ORDERED: 3 shawarmas: 2 chicken, 1 beef Very bad preparation, mediocre tasting cheap food. I'm a big fan of shawarmas and compared to the ones you can get in Downtown Toronto or Mississauga, this place is only good for the price. I don't know if it's because it's a family run operation (it appeared to be), but there were numerous violations that wouldn't occur in a better restaurant. I guess this is Brampton, the standards are definitely lower. Very smoky inside, the little boy (14-15?) handling the food wasn't wearing gloves. He also used the same pair of tongs to handle chicken, beef and lamb. While I was still at the cash register with the older boy, the little one had already started preparing the shawarmas. He had already put the lettuce on, and seemed to rush to get to the meat but as I came in front him at the counter he asked if I wanted onions, then moved on the the meat afterward. It seemed obvious he wasn't going to offer the other vegetables, and was quick to start. The sneeze guard glass was very greasy. The meat is not sliced fresh off the grill, but kept warm in the service counter compartment. And they pile up both the beef and chicken stainless steel bowls on top of the other, with metal-meat contact.. So lamb, chicken and beef are all handled with the same tongs an their bowls are in direct contact with the different meats... Meat fallen on the counter is put back in the bowls.. He stored the tongs into the same bowl he wiped the pieces off the counter into. The preparation area behind the counter was dirty, garbage and fallen food (vegetables) visible on the floor. The taste was bland and lacked all the yumminess quality of a good shawarma. RATING: 2.2/10 PROS: price, family operated CONS: food handling, customer service, taste, quality, cleanliness, smoke, preparation I don't know if it's always like that or if it was just that time. I don't want to leave a poor review right away since it seems the other ones were positive. I've worked in the restaurant industry (Italian) so I know it's a combination of many things to achieve a standard and build a reputation, and that some days are just off. But still, a standard needs to be maintained no matter what, and this place didn't earn or deserve my money on that visit. I might go back once more to see, maybe at a different time and day of the week, during school hours preferably. But so far Shawarma Queen just further down on Main and Bovaird is the best I've had in Brampton. They're keeping my business.
